I am excited to announce the starting of a new ministry called POOT: Phasing Out of Trauma.
This is a support group for women who have had emotional, physical, or sexual trauma.
We believe Jesus is the Higher Power, the Wounded Healer. It is possible to live in peace and joy as the Beloved of God. He loves you more than you know.
We chose phases instead of steps because healing is a non-linear process over time. We move in and out of phases, taking two steps forward and one step back. It takes work and effort on our part.
But believe, me the benefit is so worth it. I can honestly say at 66 years old; I am more secure and grounded as the Beloved of God. Peace and joy reside in my being most the time. I welcome and feel the negative feelings in life, but I no longer allow them to affect my self-worth. You can have this, too!
About a year ago, there was a stirring in my heart. I have been leading Not Alone Groups for years and noticed that some women were not ready for that. Just like in AA or Al-Anon, new members just need support at first. They need to be heard, feel accepted, and get on their feet. When they are ready, they can choose to work through the steps. This is where deeper healing and growth happen.
I felt God saying there needs to be a group for these women who just need support before they are ready to go deeper with him.
I met with Lisa Becerra, who journeyed with me in Not Alone and then led her own group. When I told her what was stirring me, she happily said, “I’m in!” Not only is she “in,” she is the leader. Lisa has done much healing work and has training and knowledge of the body and how the brain stores trauma. She is truly amazing. And young!
Since then, we have been working together to create the materials for the Eighteen Phases. The activities and exercises allow God’s healing transformation and include the whole self: mind, body, and spirit. If women choose to work through the Phases, they can meet with a mentor or their therapist and go at their own pace. We are still creating, shaping, and forming this new ministry. We will learn from each other and trust God for wisdom.
We have a lovely team. A mixture of younger and older women at various phases of healing, different cultures, religious traditions, and professions. Karen is a retired therapist. Kathleen is a current therapist. Lilly is an author and getting her master’s in counseling. Anita is a teacher, and Lissette is a professional in business. We are all survivors of trauma. And we all beloved daughters of God.
We launch Monday, September 23rd. I am excited for women to come, be heard, feel supported, and experience deeper healing. For more information, see the flyer posted below. There more info on my website under POOT. Feel free to reach out for any questions you have.
I will share more about POOT on my blog over the next months on Saturdays.
If you are a survivor of trauma, there is hope. You are not alone. Come check POOT out!
